About Memai

The purpose of the Medieval and Early modern Archaeology in Ireland website is to inform an international audience about current research on the archaeology of the period from the fifth century to c. 1700AD in Ireland.

The principal objective is to encourage discussion between consultancies, individuals and institutions engaged in archaeological research relevant to this period.

A second aim is to present a current statement of events, publications and projects.

The initiative for the website came from Dr. Niall Brady, Project Director for the Discovery Programme, and Dr. Elizabeth FitzPatrick, Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

The project is funded by the Heritage Council.
