The NRA plays a primary role in financing and managing the archaeological investigation and resolution of the on site and post excavation phases of road schemes. The National Museum of Ireland - The archaeological collection is the national repository for all archaeological objects found in Ireland and home to over two million artefacts. Cavan County Museum

Clare Museum have an acquisition policy dedicated to the collection, storage, recording, interpretation and display of historic and archaeological objects, that are not only of local significance but may also be of national importance. The Waterford County Museum Society was founded to run the museum. founded in 1906 and opened to the public in 1916. Reopened in 1979 in a new premises in St. John’s Square. The Museum is owned and run by Limerick City Council. The Limerick City Museum website gives details of the museum and gives access to a searchable online museum catalogue. Approximately 50,000 items are listed, ranging in date from the Middle Stone Age to the present day. Most items are illustrated by photographs or scans. The database may be searched by keyword, name, catagory, location [provenance] or period.

The Society for Medieval Archaeology

The society for medieval archaeology exists to further the study of the period from the 5th to the 16th century A.D. by publishing a journal of international standing dealing primarily with the archaeological evidence, and by other means such as by holding regular meetings and arranging conferences. Lord Walter FitzGerald Prize for Research

A prize of €500 and a medal will be awarded for the essay recommended by the judging panel and agreed by the Council.

EMAP - Early Medieval Archaeology Project

The Early Medieval Archaeology Project (EMAP) is an INSTAR-funded research consortium investigating and analysing the history and character of archaeological excavations of early medieval sites in Ireland, with the aim of creating new understandings of the societies, landscapes and settlements of the peoples of Ireland, AD 400-1170. EMAP is a proposed 3-year research project, aiming to publish a series of significant thematic reports, 2008-2010 and support PhD/MA academic qualifications for staff of two commercial archaeological companies.

FMD - Friends Of Medieval Dublin

Founded in 1976 to protect the Wood Quay site in Dublin, the Friends have matured into a research organisation which holds an annual symposium on mediaeval Dublin and publishes the proceedings in book form. The website includes bibliographies of relevant books and articles, and a list of excavations which have taken place in Dublin.

IRQUAS - The Irish Quaternary Studies online project

The Irish Quaternary Studies online project was founded in June of 2000. The project has two main objectives: To provide a forum for discussion of Irish subjects currently poorly represented online. And to facilitate and present new research and projects on subjects relating to Ireland. This website acts as the focal point for efforts to fulfil those objectives, acting as a 'front end' for discussion groups and research projects, and as platform for presenting both the results of those projects and other initiatives sumitted to the site. Thus far, we have a combined membership of over 1,500, twenty-four discussion groups, two small database projects, and one large (five-year) cartography project underway.

biab provides information about articles and books on the archaeology of Britain and Ireland. biab is the latest in a long line of bibliographic services for British and Irish archaeology provided by the CBA. It maintain the entire archive of these services - over 100,000 references to publication from 1940 onwards. To that dataset we have added records from earlier bibliographies, containing records from as far back as 1695AD. This data has been digitised and imported into a relational database structure. This database of nearly 200,000 references - updated twice a year with the most recent information.
